RC Cars are the most fun a child can have without actually getting behind the wheel of a car. The best way to make your boy happy on Christmas morning is to let him unwrap his first remote control car. I might be a little biased, but I know when I was growing up an RC car was the only thing I ever wanted for Christmas. Today’s cars are faster better built and cheaper than ever before. Truth be told they are also a lot more fun because of rechargeable batteries. I used to spend a small fortune of alkaline batteries for my cars but that just isn’t the case any longer. Just charge your batteries over night and you have hours of fun the next day.
I love the cars, but the most fun I have ever had is driving RC Buggies. Buggies are great because they can be raced right next to any car but they can also go off road. A properly balanced RC Buggy will keep up with most cars in the corners but they do so much more than a car. Being able to kick up a little dirt and take a jump along with their speed and cornering capabilities makes Buggies my all time favorite RC toy. Nothing beats racing a car down the street and being able to jump off a curb or roll through the front yard knowing that the car will never be able to go where you are going.
If I were buying a gift for a younger child up to about 8 years old I would go with a larger slower remote controlled car. But if I were buying for a child over 8 I would definitely go with a 
remote control buggy.
For those younger children large RC cars are the best option because they are just a little bit slower, making them easier to control, and less likely to get damaged. I like the 1/6 scale remote control car with a low front bumper that won’t damage your walls when it is played with inside the house. Younger kids like to play with their toys a lot and you won’t have to worry about them or your house with a nice big car. At 31.5” long and 13” wide they will need a little bit of space like a kitchen with an island or a long hallway to play inside though. But they will never have more fun than being able to play with their best toys on those cold rainy days or snowy winter night than with an RC car.
Just like real life RC Trucks come in all shapes and sizes. There are the monster trucks with oversized tires and the Kenworth, Peterbuilt, and Mack trucks right down to the low riding Yukon Denali. RC Trucks make great gifts for kids who have a father who is a long haul trucker or is in the construction industry. They are also great for the kid who wants to be a fireman when he grows up. You can find RC fire trucks with ladders for putting out those large building fires. You can even find an RC garbage truck for when mom needs a little help cleaning up around the house. Some of the most fun and popular trucks are the 4 foot long tanker trucks. They won’t win any speed races but that’s not what they are about to start with.
Every child who has a parent that is in the military loves the RC Tanks. It didn’t seem to me that they would be a lot of fun to play with at first, but once you have driven a tank there is nothing that compares. The tanks are not only for kids with military parents, they are for those kids with a lot of imagination. Kids who love to play love playing with RC Tanks. Regular cars and buggies are made to be driven fast and hard, but tanks are made to be played with in settings and scenarios. Tanks make the perfect gift for kids who like to build and make believe. There is a right remote controlled toy for everyone, but some take a longer attention span than others. RC Tanks do require longer attention spans to have the most fun you can have with them. They might also be great for those kids who aren’t actually kids at all.
Unlike RC Cars and Buggies that can be used just about anywhere, it takes a large open space for RC Airplanes. RC Airplanes are best for people who have a large park with few trees close by. They are also great for people who live near a beach that allows them to be flown. Flying a radio controlled airplane take practice and skill, so they shouldn’t be purchased for very young children. But there is nothing in the world like having all three dimensions available for your amusement. RC Airplanes are a great way to teach hand eye coordination and get those older kids out of the house and away from the video games. It is hard to explain the thrill and enjoyment that comes from fly a plane. Most RC enthusiasts who have flown planes are hooked and only go back to cars when they don’t have access to an area that allows planes to be flown. Yes they really are that much fun.
